Regional extension · After Vodundays
Togo
The Coastal Vodun Belt
1h30 from Ouidah, Togo carries the same Vodun tradition, from the shores of Aného to the hills of Kpalimé. A natural extension for travelers who want to go further.
Vodun does not stop at the border
The border between Benin and Togo is administrative. Vodun tradition, for its part, does not recognize it. The same spiritual lineages, the same deities, the same rites shared between Ouidah, Aného and Lomé for centuries.
For travelers seeking deep immersion, Togo offers a complementary perspective: another way of living the same tradition, in a slightly different context. The extension lasts 2 to 3 days and is coordinated directly from Ouidah.

Step 1
Lomé, The Market Capital
The Grand Market of Lomé is one of the largest open-air markets in West Africa. Thousands of traders, mostly women, have sold fabrics, spices, traditional potions and ritual objects there for generations.
Lomé's fetish market, adjacent to it, is one of the rare places in the world where materials used in Vodun ceremonies are freely traded. Not for tourists, for practitioners. Access with a Vodun guide completely changes the experience.
The seafront, the colonial cathedral, the Bè neighborhood with its active Vodun communities, Lomé is a dense, lively city, to be discovered in a day.

Step 2
Aného, Togo's Spiritual Heart
Aného is 45 km east of Lomé, on the border with Benin. It is the former capital of colonial Togo, and the heart of Ewe Vodun tradition.
Its fetish market is considered the most important in Togo. Fetish priests, healers, initiators, the city lives to the rhythm of a daily Vodun practice, not a museum piece.
This is where the connection between Ouidah and Togo becomes evident. The same deities, the same chants, the same initiation structures with a distinct Ewe identity.
Step 3 · Optional
Kpalimé, The Craft Mountain
Ewe Craftsmanship
Weavers, sculptors, batik workshops. Kpalimé's craft production is recognized throughout West Africa. Unique pieces, produced by artisans whose skills have been passed down for generations.
Coffee and Cocoa
Kpalimé is surrounded by coffee and cocoa plantations. Farm visits can be arranged, an opportunity to understand Togo's agricultural value chain and bring products home directly from the producers.
Nature and Hiking
Mount Klouto offers hikes through dense forest, waterfalls and views of Benin on clear days. A nature pause before returning to Ouidah for travelers who want to end their circuit outdoors.
