The first space in Francophone Africa to exhibit contemporary African art with free access, no ticket required to feel it concerns you.
Housed in the Villa Ajavon, a historic residence of Ouidah, the Zinsou Foundation made a simple and rare bet on the continent: make contemporary African art accessible to everyone, free of charge, in the very city where it has the most meaning to be seen.
The Foundation organizes temporary exhibitions dedicated to the most recognized contemporary African artists, and carries out education work with schoolchildren from the region. This is not a museum designed for passing tourists: it is a transmission tool built first for the youth of Ouidah.
For an After Vodundays visitor, it is a chance to see another side of the city, one that looks toward the future of African creation as much as toward its spiritual and memorial past. The two do not oppose each other: they answer each other.
