Projects & Events

Not everything we carry is for sale. Part of our work is a welcome, another is a training, another still a protection. Here is the whole of it, without separating what earns from what does not.

The gatherings

What comes back every year

Project ready, seeking funding

African New Year 6263

The founding edition: a full day, from morning to night, to establish the first documented cultural fact around the African New Year. The official 2027 edition will run over three days.

Every January, around the Vodun Days

After Vodun Days

Our densest season. We host during the official festival in supervised teams, and we extend the experience beyond the three days of the state, where the institutional framework cannot go.

According to the Vodun calendar, around the first day of the year

Immersion Vodun

Ten days, one cult per day, under the high patronage of the high dignitaries. The deepest programme we open, designed to understand Vodun without ever touching the integrity of the sacred.

Ahead of the African New Year

Reunion of the young people of Ouidah

The first living circle of the African New Year. Before welcoming the diaspora, gathering those from here: the young people of the town, who carry what comes next.

The projects

What never stops

All year round, in Ouidah

Training the heritage guides

Training young people from Ouidah to render each cult as it should be: every step, every dance, every drum, every costume, and the history of the quarters. This is the project that started everything, and it never stops.

Project underway, Ouidah

Wa Afriki Awakening Centre

A space dedicated to transmission and cultural renaissance in Ouidah. A place that belongs to the children of this town before it belongs to visitors.

Continuous programme

Cultural awakening for children

Passing on to the youngest what school does not teach: where they come from, what their gestures mean, and why their town carries this name across the world.

All year round, on request

Memorial accompaniment for the diaspora

For a descendant searching for where their people came from, we open access to the guarantors, the family heads and the living archives. We accompany patiently, and never promise a result.

Permanent mission

Heritage protection and ecology of the sacred

Ensuring legal and judicial protection of cultural heritage, and guaranteeing an ecology of security for the sacred, in respect of traditions and beliefs.

Our fields of action

The NGO does not work on heritage alone. An association that only looked after visitors would end up no longer serving the town.

Culture and spirituality

After Vodun Days, Immersion Vodun, Vodun Vibes.

Education and youth

Cultural awakening for children, vocational training, guidance.

Rights and duties

Awareness of children's rights and the Family Code, civic education.

Entrepreneurship

Agribusiness, digital trades, self-employment.
